The California Lottery said that, just in a matter of weeks, game sales for the Lottery s first-ever $10 Scratchers ticket, $250 Million Cash Spectacular, have been better than anticipated-- including the game s first $1 million winner. The winner, who asked to remain anonymous, purchased his winning Scratchers ticket at Donuts Donuts, which is located at 12544 South Street in Cerritos (Los Angeles County).

In just the first three days of sales (beginning September 30) when the new game had only reached a portion of the Lottery s 22,000 retailers total sales were $4.3 million. With each week that passes, sales of the $250 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers game have pushed lottery ticket sales to new milestones. Among them:

First full week (10/2-10/8) of $250 Million Cash Spectacular sales helped push total Scratchers sales for the week to nearly $53 million the single highest week of Scratchers sales on record; and The first Sunday (10/2) the new ticket was sold helped push Scratchers sales for the day to $6.3 million the first Sunday the Lottery has had with more than $6 million in total Scratchers sales in at least a year.

Sales should see an even greater spike at the end of the month when the Lottery unveils its new advertising campaign to promote $250 Million Cash Spectacular.

There are still 30 instant $1 million prizes to be won out of the more than 10.6 million available prizes $250 Million Cash Spectacular offers. Donuts Donuts will receive a $5,000 retailer bonus for selling the $1 million-winning ticket.
