			<description><![CDATA[<p>&#x3c;br /&#x3e;It&#x27;s too bad this issue couldn&#x27;t have been resolved in the 1980&#x27;s. I remember reading an article in Time Magazine concerning wages at a GM plant in Fort Wayne, where some workers were paid $22 an hour PLUS benefits for slapping hubcaps on ONE side of the car. When employees are allowed to dictate what their employer will pay them, the result, THIS result, is inevitable. There was a time (say, up to about 1970) when unions were useful as manufacturing safety watchdogs.
