Now we are treated to the semiannual spectacle of watching Republicans pretend they care about the deficit. They will hammer at this repeatedly as discussion progresses on the president’s budget, which projects a deficit of more than $1 trillion for this year and $901 billion for next. Obama and the Democrats generally have a history of quaking when this deficit talk starts up. But the best thing they can do now is stick to their guns and quote Dick Cheney: “Deficits don’t matter.... [ More ]
If I'm not mistaken, that social security skimming was going on a long time before Clinton got into office. If I'm not mistaken, that began following the death of JFK. Wasn't there some repubs in office sucking social security dry along with everyone else

Clinton's 'surplus' was created by skimming off funds from social security, so the so-called surplus and balanced budget was government mumbo-jumbo. Google it.

Here's a thought worth rememburing come election time folks; Bush II cut taxes on the super rich, increased government spending, got rid of a balanced budget and surplus, and believed the best policy was to go into big debt by borrowing money from China.

America needs to get back to the Clinton years of a surplus budget and paying down the National Debt. Stop taxing the middle class and poor and shift the tax to the super rich who won't even miss the money.

We better wake up as a nation, pull our heads out of our asses, and start figuring out how we are going to get out of this mess before it's too late for this nation to recover.

... [ More ]
