It's the parents job to prepare their children for the day that they will leave the nest. You have to teach them responsibility at an early age. assign chores and routines. Let them work a part-time job as long as it doesn't interfere with their education. This will instill a work ethic. By the time they finish college, they will be ready to make their own decisions and own mistakes...but parents will always be their safety net when in need. My wife and I raised two, it works.
