I just read this and I'm very sorry for you and your families loss. May God grant you the strength to remember your wife as the person you knew her to be, not as a loss but as another smile on your face. You were already blessed to have been a part of her life. On February 21, 2014, my wife of 48 years passed away. After being admitted into the ER on February 14, she died peacefully at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

When events proved that the hospital could do nothing more for her, she requested all treatment cease and that she be transferred to Alive Hospice. During the three days at Hospice, one of my daughters or I stood vigil by her bed. Her oldest daughter was present when she took her last breath.

During this whole ordeal, I prayed. I prayed hard. I said,

Dear G-d Almighty

Show me a miracle. Show me your power. Show me the power of Jesus Christ. Show me the power of all the Heavenly Hosts. Bring her back to me and her family. Show me a miracle. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray.

Such was not to be.

G-d had other plans.

One night, which turned out to be my last night with her, as I struggled toward her room, I made this same prayer again. Then G-d spoke to me. He told me He has shown me a miracle. The woman who was my wife for 48 wonderful, happy, years was my miracle. Peace and tranquility came over me.

She was a very understanding woman. She let me be me. She never critized or condemned what I said or did. She was truthful to a fault. No lie ever passed her lips. She was a loving woman, grateful for all that she had and never envious of what others might have.

Her funeral is tomorrow in West Tennessee. I pray that G-d gives me the strength to say these very same words at her grave.
