Ridge, you may have a teacher's desk but the only time that you sit down is at the beginning of class to take class attendance. After that you are circling your room, keeping students on tasks, helping students that are struggling, and keeping discipline problems in check. You won't have a job long if you sit at your desk. No, you don't have a clue as to what goes into teaching.

Maybe for you, but for me it involved a pair of gloves and a shovel and back-braking work that involved laying down cable for new subdivisions in and around the city of New Orleans. A desk job, maybe if I was White. SMH

Just as I thought. You have no idea what to do. Going about it John Wayne style will get you seriously hurt. The kids know who to go to if there is a problem. By this time you have built up such a reputation that the kids will stop because they know you are coming and you will break up a fight by any means necessary. You talk the talk but I had to walk the walk numerous times. Stick to what you are good at. You would not last in an educational setting.
