First of all, whether you are Black, White, or other, you must be in control of your class. Unless you have discipline under control, you won’t be an effective teacher. He was accused of marching 6th-graders up and down a set of stairs for more than five minutes as a means of discipline. This is a sure sign that he was not in charge of his class. He should have been placed with a mentor teacher to assist him in this area. Marching students up and down stairs is not appropriate as a discipline technique. The school system as well as you can be sued. Also you must be the adult and role model in that class. Using derogatory language will cause unnecessary problems for any teacher.... [ More ]
