			<description><![CDATA[<p>Peachtree City is of particular interest to me because my wife and me have friends and relatives there and you know they&#x27;ve got the real 411. Let&#x27;s be real, if you or I had called 911 and said we just shot our wife, they would have sent SWAT locked and loaded really to shoot and ask questions later. This police chief is receiving special treatment, I wonder why?</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>Wife shot by suburban Atlanta police chief husband was asleep, believes New Year s morning shooting was accidental: GBI<br /><br />Margaret McCollom, 58, told the Georgia Bureau of Investigation that she was asleep when shot around 4:15 a.m. Jan. 1 and believes her husband, Peachtree City Police Chief William McCollom, fired accidentally. The chief is on leave during the investigation and his wife remains hospitalized in good condition<br /><br />Maggie McCollom via facebook Margaret McCollom told investigators she was sleeping when shot and believes her husband fired accidentally. She remains hospitalized in good condition.<br /><br />The woman shot by her suburban Atlanta police chief husband early New Year s Day told investigators she was sleeping at the time and believes the shooting was accidental, Georgia investigators said.<br /><br />Margaret McCollom, 58, remains hospitalized in good condition, five days after her husband William McCollom, the Peachtree City, Ga., police chief, told a dispatcher he accidentally plugged her twice with his service weapon around 4:15 a.m. Jan. 1.<br /><br />Investigators later learned Margaret had been shot just once after she was taken into surgery.<br /><br />It s unclear if William McCollom fired the weapon twice, or why exactly he told the 911 dispatcher that his prone wife had been hit twice.<br /><br />Maggie McCollom via facebookPeachtree Police Chief William McCollom is shown here beside his wife, Margaret McCollom. The shooting was reported around 4:15 a.m. Jan. 1.<br /><br />The chief is on leave as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation looks into the shooting. The GBI released Friday the 5-minute 911 call made by William McCollom shortly after he shot his wife.<br /><br />The gun was in the bed. I went to move it, put it to the side, and it went off, he says in the call placed at 4:17 a.m.<br /><br />He later says he was asleep at the time of the shooting and then tells the dispatcher the gun is on a dresser.<br /><br />11 alive William McCollom called 911 to his Autumn Leaf home in Peachtree City, Ga., after the shooting early Jan. 1.<br /><br />Margaret McCollom can be heard crying in the background, lying on her stomach in their bed, while her husband tries to console her.<br /><br />Are you alright dear? I know you&#x27;re not all right, I mean, are you still breathing? he s heard asking his wife.<br /><br />William McCollom is glum on the call as he admits he s also the local police chief.<br /><br />Peachtree police William McCollom joined the Peachtree City police department in 2012 after spending more than two decades as police chief at various departments in Florida.<br /><br />She&#x27;s having trouble breathing, he tells the dispatcher as his wife is heard crying in the background. How the hell did this happen? he says in an aside.<br /><br />No charges have been filed.<br /><br />William and Margaret McCollom were divorced in 1999 before apparently reconciling, the Associated Press reported. He spent two decades as the Delray Beach, Fla., police chief before moving to a smaller department.
