Illinois gamblers would be able to buy lottery tickets by computer in a program the Senate approved Thursday.The bill, sponsored by Sen. John Cullerton, D-Chicago, sets up a pilot program to try online lottery ticket sales. Cullerton said Internet sales could eventually generate as much as $100 million for the state.The measure passed 32-24 and moves to the House.Republicans feared the measure would encourage problem gambling and increase personal debt because buyers could use credit cards.
