Texas is trying to avoid a state income tax. They expect the lottery to help fund education and it isn't working. Income from a lottery is not steady enough to fund teacher salaries, etc. They need to wake up and smell the coffee. We turned down casinos for religious reasons and won't initiate a state income tax for philosophical reasons. I think Texas is having more problems than NY. New York Lottery seems to run a tight ship.

The Texas Lottery Commission suspended sales of tickets for its Pick 3 game Thursday night after the lottery operator said there was a computer code problem associated with the game.The Texas Lottery Commission did not reveal any details about the nature of the computer glitch.Drawings for the game will continue and any tickets already purchased for Pick 3 drawings are valid, said lottery spokesman Robert Elrod.
