How can they not vote on the lottery, when money is going out of State that don't make cents to be when if they had a lottery the money would stay here and the teacher;s wouldn't have to leave there job.s and we would have better Schools for our children an a better Education. I can''t believe N.C. is so far in the dark and don't want to change.Sharon

Anybody heard anything about the NC Lottery vote today. I hope it is a yes. If we don't get one this time I think it may be years before it happens. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Shame on NC! One hundred and seventy teacher quit the Charlotte Meck School system in the last 3 weeks for the crap they have to take for lack of money. When will NC WAKE UP! tenaj

I could have sworn that at least one Republican voted for the previous Senate version of the bill. Hopefully things will change for the vote... or maybe someone won't make it to the vote. NC needs to get with the program. A majority of the people in the state want a lottery

It was a tight vote in the Georgia Legislature before they finally decided to put the lottery before voters to decide. However Zell Miller, then Governor, managed to shove it through and the rest is history. However am sure neighboring states hugely appreciate North Carolina's $$$$ continuing to flow into their lotteries while the Legislature postures.

Decision will be today or Saturday as backers seek to sway 'no' votersIt apparently takes some cajoling to change one vote.Backers of a North Carolina lottery spent Thursday trying to get a few senators to change their no votes to yes. Senate President Pro Tem Marc Basnight, a Dare Democrat and lottery supporter, said he will hold a vote today or Saturday and that his side is a couple votes short. He, other Senate leaders and staffers from Gov. Mike Easley's office could be seen chatting up... [ More ]
