I would be curious to know the retention of NC state officials; and how often those, with two terms or more, are voted out. If it is like most places, once in, in forever. lady:IIRC the Hornets had the lowest average in league attendance in 2004-5, which would mean even without Katrina, New Orleans was questionable as an NBA city.

They should go back to New Orleans. George Shinn wanted them there so thats where they should stay. He could build a better superstadium for the Hornets (thats what he wanted here but the people of Charlotte voted No to that- he wanted us to pay for it- so thats why he moved).

My problem was the general statement about North Carolina and what you were implying about the people in general. Most of us (at least in Charlotte) are transplants from other areas (I've lived here 20yrs myself). It would be like saying all people in NM are uneducated illegal immigrants (which I know is not the case- one of my good friends from Grad School was from NM). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion I respect that, but the statement was insulting.

He said the city believes the most crucial factor is that stores be required to sell more than just tickets and alcohol, with at least half of sales coming from other items. It is more difficult, but not impossible, to change laws. They said Concealed Carry laws would never happen; most of the states now have that law. If you can talk politicians into allowing citizens to carry firearms, you can get any law changed. You just have to be smarter then a politician, I'm not seeing that as a problem in NC.

North Carolina leaders aren't ignorant, just misguided.Some years ago Ohio had some misguided people that convinced the State that the chance to to win large lottery jackpots was a bad thing and the State for a few months adopted a law that limited the amount that one lottery ticket could win to $20M annuity. It's racial. I'm a native Charlottean. I'm not the type of person who would use the race card out of ignorance. 95% of convienient stores owners in this city are of ethnic orgin from other countries and are located in fragile neighborhoods. They are on almost every corner, like the churches. No kidding, there is a church on almost every corner. Guess where the most churches are located?......in fragile neighborhoods I'm ashame of the leaders in this city.
