I don't think there is a limit on how high the jackpots can go, despite rumors that there's some bogus law limiting jackpots of both games to $500 million. I realize that you eventually have to come forward and all winnings are public records, but why in the world would anyone in his right mind want people to know he had the winning ticket? Of course I'd eventually give to charities and be generous to my family (depending on the size of the jackpot) but I'd try to remain as anonymous as possible, before and after claiming the money.

Family of who, another ALLEGED winner? There is a story here on this website of that guy who won around $93 million earlier this year playing Powerball in New Mexico and the story said quite a few other people had claimed they had won before the real winner came forward. The actual winner of the $340 million could still be anybody.
