It's academic with Canadian lotteries, although there are some annuitized games in the Great White North, AFAIK all with a cash option. The US still has some catching up to do.

Cash Only is very passionate about the availability of the Cash Option in all the Lottery games. It's probalby the better option most of the time for most people to take the Cash and run, but his Lose for Life idea seems like looking a gift horse in the mouth. Cash Only is correct about the disadvantages of committing to a long term payout as being especially vulnerable to the inflation risk. You believe a lifetime of checks signifies debt for life? Maybe to someone not competent enough to know how to control their spending. Besides a cash option for $1 million dollars would not be enough to set anyone for life, unless they chose to live a very low profile lifestyle.

LOL, someone else can milk the cows this winter, nice one. I betcha if this guy has been farming all his life he won't be able to take time off or won't want too. Most farmers I know are workaholics and I believe is a great thing something sorely lacking in our day. We often forget that hard work is a reward in itself. Cheers,

Good thing Canada doesn't force lottery winners to receive annuity payments. NY has a Debt for Life scratch game that doesn't have a cash option.
