			<description><![CDATA[<p>The North Carolina Education Lottery announced five additional hirings Monday, including three with connections to the Georgia Lottery and another who was once a state director for U.S. Sen. John Edwards.Alice Garland, currently an assistant state Commerce Department secretary, will earn $128,000 as deputy executive director of legislative and corporate communications, lottery executive director Tom Shaheen said. Garland has 30 years of experience in private business and governmental relations.</p>]]></description>
