At their age, I would think that $250K a year, after taxes, would make them very happy. AND leave a nice trust fund for any grandchildren. There is a point in life, when you don't need a lump sum; especially when it is usually the elderly that become victums. A wrong decision and they are broke. Annuity eliminates that - or at least reduces it drastically!

At their age I doubt they will be choosing an annuity. Interest on 3.6 million is pretty good.

If the Buhrmans choose to have their winnings distributed over 25 years, they would receive about $230,000 a year after taxes, Goedde said. If they opt for a cash payout, they would get about $3.6 million after taxes.

Only three and a half million after taxes, How would one ever make do? Maybe they have enough in their 401K to get them through the winter

A Maryland Heights, Missouri, couple has claimed an $8.1 million Lotto jackpot, becoming the second major lottery winner in north St. Louis County this year.

Peter and Judy Buhrman's winning numbers 4, 17, 25, 35, 36 and 38 were announced in a drawing Feb. 4. The couple turned the ticket over to Missouri Lottery officials Friday. After officials verified it was the winning ticket, they named the Buhrmans this week as the winners.
