NC may still be struggling after the novelty wears off, since NC apparently isn't paying as much back in prizes as the surrounding states.

But I cannot support the lottery - I do not have enough money.

It seems that governments alway need more money. (Just like us)

Difference is that they can raise taxes - or create lottery's - or motel taxes, etc.

Many moons ago Illinois started with advertising Lotto bucks for education . The schools are still crying for more money. The state puts the lottery money into the education system, but takes out an equal or greater amunt from somewhere else in the education system.

I'm with you NCPicks. Granted NC has struggled to even get a lottery and it was quite a feat. I thought a miracle had happened.

Many mistakes were made, but just think, they had to develop a startup while carrying a big stick. I even thought about boycotting it but I've changed my mind. I really think they have done good considering the mentality of the people in charge and the opposition.

NC might have to advertise heavily if their payout % will be less than its neighbors. Then again, the more advertising they do, the less they would be able to pay out.

The first television commercial for the North Carolina Education Lottery apparently will be looking literally to drum up support.

In a concept draft of the ad released by the lottery commission late Tuesday, a man sits in a chair in his home, starting to scratch off a lottery ticket with a coin.

Then a drum roll is heard, and the man gives an excited look to his wife before a marching band walks through their living room and plays a fight song. A narrator then talks about the new lottery,
