They will post signs in NC retailers if the top prizes go away. I have heard that on more than one occasion.

I haven't checked, but AFAIK the highest prize in an Oklahoma scratch is $25,000. They need six-figure games.

Does North Carolina have a sign on their scratcher case stating that all top prizes have or may have been paid on any of the scratchers and that the scratchers are still sold as there are other prize levels remaining in any of the games wher the top prizes are gone?

I noticed recently that S.C. has a sign something like that. I can not remember the exact wording.

spnc1980,the appeal to stop the lottery from existing in the future has been filed.Orr realized he could not stop the lottery from starting but,hopes to end it with his case in the NC Supreme Court.Let's hope they can read the same tax law definition as Judge Hight.

I feel the same way...since Charlotte has the most outlets in the state, I see the signs everywhere..it's like being in a completely different town or state. I can't wait for Powerball...I can very literally walk 5 blocks down the street to get Powerball tickets from now on instead of going to Fort Mill...it's great.

Over $10 million in sales for the first day, that is the current estimate. So much for any plans to stop the lottery in court.

Only spent $5 today; 2 NCELs, 1 Tic Tac Toe and 1 Blackjack.

Won a free ticket on one of the NCELs.

Felt so weird buying tickets without having to go to Myrtle Beach.

NC LOTTERY TICKET PURCHASE REPORT:

ALL BRAND NEW PACKS: Players make a note- The first time that a game is played the first ticket in the pack is listed as a VOIDED ticket therefore there will be no ticket number starting with 000. The first valid ticket on a new game pack is 001. I quetioned the store manager where I purchased the tickets and this was the rule. Only with NEW GAMES will you see this.

Since the tickets went on sale this morning in NC, 1 person has won 5,000. I don't know where but I sure wish it was me. I only bought a couple of tickets. I didn't win a darn thing. I put in $20 into several different tickets:

$6 into the $1 Tic-Tac-Toe: $1 won

$5 into the $1 NC Education Lottery: $7 won

$4 into the $2 blackjack: $0 won

$5 into the $5 $100000 ticket: $10 won

Down $2 not bad...was fun though.

Online games soon: May 30th Powerball, numbers game in the fall.

I scratched all of the NC Lottery Tickets. Won $25 on Tic Tac Toe and $1 and $2 here and there on all but the the $5 tickets which did not give up ANYTHING except one free ticket.

I'm down $12. I don't think the $5 tickets are going to be giving up much because I scratched 5 tickets and got Jack and another person scratched 5 tickets and got Jack. we now have a lottery.i feel though we are being cheated but i guess we shouldn't complain. with the way it is set up it will not stop us from crossing the borders to the north and south of us. they offer the chance to play more than just scratch offs.

they act like they are doing us a favor.

Not to rain on this momentus day but,Robert Orr's group has filed the appeal yesterday to once again challenge the lottery.He wants to take his case straight to the NC Supreme Court this time.

One might guess that it would be an uphill battle for the NCICL after loosing in court already but stranger things have happened.If critics are right,there may not even be a state left to sue by then.Everyone knows how the lottery will distroy this state,lol.Perhaps the NC Supreme Court will reject Orr... I agree...despite all of the shortcomings and buffoonerie that has been conveyed by the lottery board, I am happy that we have SOMETHING in this state. Powerball comes May 30.

Actually the SC tickets that I have won with have the code. I imagine that NC's will as well. That's how they are universally made these days to prevent fraud I think.

Do you know if the codes on the NC tickets show winner or not? For example if you win $1.00 on a ticket, somewhere on the ticket you will see O-N-E. Or if you win $500. somewhere on the ticket you will see F-I-V-H-N-D. I notice in SC the tickets don't have the codes on the ticket, a winning ticket could have something like Q-Z-R.

Just for info purposes, there had been 2 tickets taken off each roll when I got my tix at 6:00am.

8 - $5 Carolina Cash Tix ($40) - Won $35 ($25 on one ticket)

25 - $2 BlackJack ($50) - Won $22 ($11 on one ticket)

25 - $1 Tic Tac Toe ($25) - Won $9 ($3 on 2 tix)

25 - $1 NC Education Lottery Tix ($25) - Won $17 and 2 free Tix ($10 on one ticket)

Grand Total was $140 spent and won back $83 + 2 Tickets. I have personally enjoyed the Carolina Cash and t... [ More ]

Finally in NC hypocracy of Lottery is over and people and opponents who like it or not the looetry will see, watch and play the game.

I had wished NC could have opted for the Mega Millon lottery instead of powerball which is next door in SC.

Lottery opponents should give up their fight now and hope folks play Lottery sensibly.

Went and picked up several of each ticket this morning. I guess we will see if I get lucky. Honestly, it is nice to finally be able to just walk into the store and grab some tickets without driving an hour and a half to one of the state's respective borders.

After years of watching players take their millionaire dreams and spending money across state borders, North Carolinians will start playing their own lottery today.

At 6 a.m. in Raleigh, State Board of Education Chairman Howard Lee will buy the ceremonial first ticket of the N.C. Education Lottery. Lottery retailers throughout the state will start selling tickets to four scratch-off games at that time.
