I would think no company would want to buy the lottery rights without a healthy profit. Doesn't seem fair to the taxpayers to share the profits with an outside entity. And no controls are mentioned that would prevent some company to making changes that the state would not want. It sounds like the public needs more information than is being given.

I don't understand the secrecy either. If these people actually want more support you would think making the all available information public would be in their best interest.

I think this is just a political ploy to gain time so that Sen. Meeks is unable to launch a viable campaign against Rod. He knows it's not going to pass through legislature under this veil of secrecy, but if he drags his feet long enough it will keep Meeks out of the running.

The games politicians play...

The Blagojevich administration said Tuesday it won't release a consultant's work on how much money the state could make by selling or leasing the Illinois state lottery. The administration compared such a move to sharing playbooks with rival sports teams.

Republicans have called for public disclosure.
