I live in the northen end of 'the bible belt', and as far as I know, everyone has everything around here.

No, what his is is a payoff 'under the table', someone in a private company is 'subsidizing' votes in order to garner a monopoly, and the 'lawmakers' will go for it, hook line and sinker, because it will line their pockets. This is gambling, this is big money, don't fool yourself.

Why don't they just do what the other states do, allow everything ?

By eliminating other forms of gambling, they are only cutting other sources of revenue for themselves.

I wouldn't even buy a Powerball ticket from a privatized lottery (in this form). Indiana would be better served by just scrapping it outright and banning gambling.

Many upset over Governor's plan to 'sell the Lottery'

A bill that would allow Gov. Mitch Daniels to outsource the Hoosier Lottery would prohibit a private operator from offering keno, video lottery games, pari-mutuel wagering on horses or dogs and games based on winners of races or other sporting events.
