Whether or not somebody can afford to retire has absolutely nothing to do with it. If you're a bilionaire and your employer discriminates against you then you have a valid claim. If you earn mimimimum wage and don't have a dime of savings and your employer doesn't discriminate you, then that's just too bad, and your only recourse is to take responsibility for yourself and improve your own life.

The story clearly says that all of the sales reps were asked to hang signs and all refused because... [ More ]

I hate to give away my age...but I'm old enough to remember a time when Secretaries (not admin assistants) still fetched coffee and it was not uncommon to see racy posters on personal office walls. People were even allowed to smoke in their office, or in the breakroom. They had Christmas parties and someone always dressed up as Santa...

Still - the fact that someone would say that to you is shocking to me.

I did some checking. When I worked with the Lottery in NM they had 14 sales reps... [ More ]

Yes, I agree too, it might not be age discrimination, and those are good points that any lawyer will surely examine. My first comments were only answering remarks made on the subject. I've been treated unfairly at jobs, but I never sued anyone. When I was in my 20s I once asked a manager Will there be anything else, Sir? and he said Yeah, how about a blow job? He thought it was funny but I didn't. That doesn't mean that I was the only person he annoyed, but most people just put up with p... [ More ]

Increasing someones sales territory to an unmanageble size or adding more responsibilties to a persons work load is a typical management tactic used to cause job frustration and dissatisfaction. It also allows management to set artificial and unattainable goals to screw the employee on the next job review. If what the lottery did is true, I believe they may have a case. Whether it is age, sex or race it is still a form of discrimination no matter what, especially in a democrat controlled sta... [ More ]
