wow super rip off a 44 million dollar prize chewed up in TAXES what a rip off from 44 million to 7 milllon each ?//

is it just me or is the lottery a big rip off when you hit the big one ???/ the lottery kept around 30 million

(Hmm... I'm going to have to check to see if one of the eligibility requirements is being from Earth.

Only 1/2 of your purchase or thereabouts goes to the winners (all winners, not just Jackpot) and the other is supposed to be for Education or whatever.

beating 1-in-176 million odds - does that mean they only played 1 ticket? Otherwise it might be beating 5-in-176 million odds or something. Even then that would assume that was the only time they played. The odds of a given person winning are not as high as they appear.

Here is more info on the couple he was a former Vice Presdent of NASDAQ and she is a dentist. There is no doubt this couple will know how to manage their new millions. Congrats to them.

I have to agree with TheGameGrl. Not everyone hates his/her job. I wish I could say I've worked at a job I love and for reasons other than money. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case for a very long time. It's true that if you worked in a factory or retail store where people were getting laid off, there would be resentment and co-workers might expect you to pay for lunch, etc. If I won millions, maybe I would start a business or philanthropy doing something I really enjoy, or perhaps... Congrats to the lucky winners.

I consider it an insult to some of us folks who work in jobs that we do enjoy. To tell us to QUIT or walk away from what we enjoy is rather disrespectful to our right to do for others or contribute to society. I dont work for the money (although its nice to have), I work because I enjoy it and the bonus is getting PAID for what I do. Money is NOT the motivator for some of us folks. Yeah! I agree. Keeping old job is not a good idea. Lots problems ( asking for handouts everyday, resentment, who can you trust and envy. )

Enjoying your job is a nice sentiment, but employment being what it is, it might be better karma to let someone who needs the work, or paycheck, to have your job if you are all set financially. They can always make work by starting their own business or something.

A Florida financial-services firm employee and a Henrico County dental-clinic worker came forward Monday to claim a $44 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot.

Dan Franks, who lives in the Tampa Bay, Fla., area, and Kimberly Swanson chose to take a lump sum payment of $25.3 million rather than annual payments of $1.69 million for 26 years. After taxes, each will pocket about $7 million.
