Several reason you may not hear from the winner/winners for a while:

1> They only get one chance to mess it up, and they want to take time to get all the advice they can before signing the claim forms.

2> He/she/they are probably waiting for the MegaMillions jackpot to be won and maybe claimed so all the attention won't be on them.

3> They got lucky and won the PB $314M jackpot so why not try for the MM $330 jackpot while they're on a roll and collect both jackpots later.

The winning PB ticket was sold at a Speedway convenience store in Richmond,Indiana. It was about three miles down U.S. highway 40 from another Speedway store that sold a $296 million winning ticket in 1998 to a lottery pool from Columbus,Ohio. Could it be that another Ohioan won a PB jackpot with an even bigger MegaMillions one waiting at home to be won

i read where if you take the annuity,the lottery reinvests the rest over the 20 years,while players pay it off,into investments,they sorta get paid twice.

The winner can take the annuity or cash option. Most people just want one big lump sum because they don't want the smaller checks over 29 years in 30 payments. Now, as far as someone saying that it's better than taking the annuity, I don't agree with that. It all depends on the person who won. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking the annuity. I matched 4 numbers twice = $100 + $100 = $200

I matched 3 numbers twice = $7 + $7= $14

Our group gets these tickets so one more isnt going to change our streak of bad luck. We are determined to remain on our losing streak. That we can count on! 1. the winner is probably NOT from Indiana but from Ohio.

2. this SAME THING happened several years ago I THINK the SAME STORE too! Someone look it up.. remember the motorcycle gang (errr... machine shop employees, that is) there were 13 guys that won the first 300+ drawing back around 1998, they bought it in Richmond, possibly same store.. someone can research this? Finally, in my opinion, if a player is age 40+, he or she can retire off the interest of $4 or $5 million and never touch the principal!

I agree. I could live on a lot less. If I won $1 or $2 million I'd retire very comfortably. Life doesn't have to be expensive. So looking at this using the spreadsheet provided by the group running Powerball, the first payment of the annuity would be over $5.6 Million and go up from there. I estimate that if the person takes the cash option, they would have to earn more than 8.7% annually on the entire balance to exceed what the annuity would pay out.

Either way, it's a nice chunk of change for a single person (especially if they are single ).

There is a winner.

Powerball lottery officials say one winning ticket was sold for Saturday night's $314 million jackpot.

It was purchased in Indiana.

The pot had grown so huge because there had not been a big winner in any of the drawings since late June.

Also winning big in the drawing were 36 lucky players who matched the first 5 numbers for a second prize win of $200,000.
