A lucky mom has revealed how a mistake over her son's age won her a lottery fortune of almost 1.3 million (US$2.5 million).

Janet Baddick forgot to change 26 one of her regular numbers to 27 after her son Darren's 27th birthday.

But when 26 came up in the draw last week it meant Janet scooped 1,298,223.

Celebrating with husband Nick, left, Janet said, I normally update my numbers when somebody has a birthday but I had forgotten to do it this time. Thank goodness I didn't.
