One winning $275 million jackpot ticket was sold in West Virginia. Also, 14 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $200,000 prize: 1 from Arizona, 1 from Colorado, 1 from Iowa (1 with Power Play), 2 from Kentucky, 1 from Louisiana, 1 from Minnesota, 3 from North Carolina (1 with Power Play), 3 from Pennsylvania and 1 from Wisconsin

I live in an area that doesn't have any Iowa television stations that show the drawing.The stations that I watch the drawing on are in Missouri and Illinois.I f I waited until the following day for the radio to announce the numbers theres a better than even chance that the announcer would get them wrong.

I think your chances of winning the jackpot would be exactly the same as everyone else that bought a Powerball ticket...slim to none.This guy just had lady luck sitting on his shoulder that day,nothing more.I once cashed in a $21,000 winning lottery ticket at the lottery office and while I was there I bought a few scratch off tickets,all losers.Lady luck was no longer sitting on my shoulder.

See, I knew it would be someone like that.....someone everyone should know who they are.

I never watch the live draws. They are not available in my area. Or at least, I am not aware of any channel that televises the drawings. I always have to get my results from USA Mega or from here at lp or from the store. The morning news is okay too, but not reliable for results because they don't have a definite time of announcing them and mornings here can get hectic. Trying to time wh... [ More ]

That is just plain crazy! Since they went to the claim center to cash in that nice $10,000 prize....and bought a ticket while there for the powerball again.....well, then.....I wonder if I went to the actual claim center Monday and bought a ticket there if my chances would be better. Mike Pace is the guy who reads off the winning numbers as they are drawn.The Powerball drawing is televised live here in Iowa and anyone who watches the drawing knows who Mike Pace is.It may not be televised in other markets,so not everyone gets to watch the drawing.

This might be one of those times that a lawyer would come in handy.The lawyer could go over the lottery rules with a fine tooth comb and find out whether or not this is possible.I have read where people in a lottery pool took different payouts and the lottery said they would bend over backwards to help lottery winners.

Does anyone know if it's possible to split the payout methods? For instance, with one winning ticket, can you take half the jackpot as an annuity and the other half in a lump sum? I thought I heard about this being done before. But it was two people who played together and split their winnings in this manner. I guess I'm asking can this be done for one person

Just nit picking, but Powerball doesn't have a $10,000,000 jackpot. They won a $10,000 prize and when they went to claim it they bought more tickets and won the big JP. I don't remember what amount it was, but Powerball starts at $15,000,000.
