Ever heard? You obviously ignore state and federal politics.

The U.S. Congress wastes B-I-L-L-I-O-N-S everytime the planet circles the sun. Overpasses in Boston. Bridges in Alaska. Highways in Texas. Air Conditioned Trash Trucks in New York City. Research on why bugs become extinct. Research on why there is an increase in male Blue Birds.

About 10 years back, the lottery cut 200 jobs and invested the savings in prize payouts. Sales went up about by hundredds of millions and education $$$ per year did by a bunch. CSL was still a very poor performer - but it was the right thing to do.

(Ever wonder why they didn't have to shut the doors after they got rid of 200 positions?)

$60 million is a lot of $$$ - but I assume they plan on paying that off over time - basically a mortgage. So not a big hit to the annual budget e... [ More ]

60 Billion is chump change when it doesn't come out of your pocket. Thus the creation of Big Government and its self-created sanctioned sub-governments. The Lottery Officials are appointed by the government, and they hire siblings at ridiculous salary's to manage something the government wants to say it doesn't own; until it is to their advantage to own. You're not considering the cost of 40 HD televisions and all the Oak furntiure required to provide a proper working environment. Then, when you add the requirements of the environmental wakos, the price will double before it is finished. This is Calfiornia were talking about. I have yet to see anything related to the government come in on budget. Thats the down side of free money, and the Lottery officials are receiving free money. Building a condo with 45 floors comes out to be 8-10 million dollars and for the extra finishes add 3 to 4 million to that...No building cost 60 million dollars..What are they building the pentagon...They got something up their sleeves...

Wow get this The terminator says he wants to look into privatizing the lottery...........the lottery officials say the revenues are dipping .................. and now the lottery commission wants to build a 60 million dollar headquarters.

Does anyone in Calif. know what's going on seems doubtful to me. Why consider building a new headquarters if your going to sell the lottery to a private contractor. Doesn't make sense to me.

so basically lottery officials are doing what crooked bank tellers have been doing for years, putting a penny aside for every transaction!?! of course this money is from all the poor blokes who didn't claim on time! this is yours and my money!! what's wrong with the current building? this stinks and govna shwartseenager better investigate

California lottery officials are thinking about building a new $60 million headquarters despite a massive state budget deficit.

The new headquarters would be smaller and less expensive to operate, officials said.
