This past weekend when I went to Publix supermarket to buy my Lotto tickets, sitting on the green stand that holds the cards pencils were 2 small strips of paper that looked exactly like the fortunes from a Chinese cookie. They both had some Chinese symbols on one side and English words with numbers on the other with Your Lucky Numbers but I threw them away. I really didn't want to get any more numbers in my head! Apparently another player left them there.

after becoming one of 10 people who chose the right number.

That is exactly what happens when you play fortune cookie numbers, you will be sharing with many others usually.
