I actually like the idea of if the Power Play number matches the winning number they win $500. Is this only going on in Maine

If the Power Play number on the ticket matches the winning number, the person wins $500.

It looks like at least one lottery player is going to win an extra $500 whether they spend it on fuel or buy more tickets. There are opponents to the lotteries in ever state just waiting to nit-pic over any small detail.

Good point. I imagine tourism is a big part of the state's income - if travel is down, revenue should be down across the board.

I don't understand the furor over the promotion name. Isn't every game name a similar attempt at marketing? Is it because it's not actually a fuel prize

Yea this is a typical 'salesman' (or salesperson) mentality. Use whatever will sell your product. Lies, false promotion, ect. just SELL the product - just MAKE the sale.

I just got out of 10 years of sales in 2008 and I feel like a new person not having to do things like that. Funny thing is sales people call themselves professionals to make themselves feel better about lying and cheating.

The Maine Lottery is getting strong, bipartisan criticism for its Funds For Fuel promotion as lawmakers say the lottery should not be using Mainers' fear of high fuel prices this winter to sell more lottery tickets.
