, this is a perfect case of you can't win for loosing. The more you make the more they take and next thing you know without proper management your right back where you started from so why leave is what they probably thought. Thank goodness the person that put it into accounts for them was no swindler.

My heart really goes out to them. Why? Because all they know is penny pinching. I am happy that they won and continued with their extremely modest lifestyle. Getting a large amount of money at one time is very intimidating for anyone. The fact that they only purchased a new fridge is impressive to me. I am glad that they had the money to pay their fines and things. I wish them well. They are not bad or manipulative people.

Brian and Wendy Rushin had lived blameless lives until they won the money in 2002 and became misers .

They were so protective of their wealth that they saved it in an array of accounts and used it only once, to buy a new fridge.

Mr. Rushin, 74, and his wife, 72, also continued to claim housing and council tax benefits, taking thousands of pounds they were no longer entitled to over three years.
