You're right mj. I just re-read the article. I mistakenly based my post on the false assumption that she was the director.

$85 K a year certainly is nothing to sneeze at for announcing the numbers.

$85 thou a year is nothing to sneeze at. Yeah, when she started that was nothing, but hey everybody got to pay dues to get to the top. She is a real sweetheart, years ago I'd take her instead of the lump sum if I won the jackpot, LOL (smile).

Seems like a nice lady. If she's competent and New Yorkers are happy with the way she runs their lottery, it's a good deal all around. She certainly doesn't make too much money.

When I lived in New York, I remember watching her on television, too. She is animated and seems to enjoy her career.

Yolanda Vega, the most recognizable voice of the New York Lottery, celebrated her 20th anniversary with the state Friday and there are no signs her number is up.

I'm going to continue to do the numbers until I can't see them anymore, the 54-year-old Brooklyn native told the Daily News.

Vega, who has an economics degree from Hunter College, has been praised by Oprah and lampooned by Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa in a popular youtube video. She was even memorialized with a bobblehead doll.... [ More ]
