Strangely this is NOT the only occurrence ...

It also happened in the Bulgarian lottery in 2009 when the same

6 numbers were drawn in 2 consecutive weeks live on tv.

You dropped the decimal point, so it's 2.65, not 265, but that's still for any one specific drawing to match another specific drawing. I don't know whether this game has drawings one a week or twice a week, but since that set of numbers was first drawn there would have been at least 4 drawings, so the chances of those numbers coming up again would be 4 in 2.65 million, or 1 in 662,500. Further, the last drawing could also have matched either of the 2 previos drawings, so that makes 6 chances in... [ More ]

You have just focused some light on the ONE lottery strategy that actually DOES have potential to increase your individual winnings. I.E., in parimutuel games, always select numbers that are the LEAST LIKELY to be chosen by others. Which is good reason to get your numbers from the RNGs here at LP, or at http://www.random.org .

im looking forward to the day that 6 numbers drawn match 6 on one of my lines.

ea to their own, i do like the days some patterns are drawn like the 5 10 15 25 30 or what ever was drawn here.

and the winners got $6k ea instead of the usual share of $1 mill, 40 winners that week, still more than I got

This happened last year in Bulgaria, for two draws in a row (can't post a link as I'm too 'new' and just got told off for trying! - Googling repeat lottery numbers bulgaria should find it). Two consecutive draws is of course even more unlikely, yet still not significant.

It does freak people out though when this happens, but they forget that if this kind of thing could NOT happen then that's when they should worry about there being something wrong with the draw.

This comes close to happening quite often in a game like West Virginia's Cash25(6/25) which only has 177,100 possible combinations. Below are a few recent examples.

yeah i tried playing 7/45 out here with the previous weeks numbers as my pick, i kinda got bored with it.

i would like to make the news, but as you say prob 4 times as many people play the repeat as other combos. so u are guranteed a split of the pot.

prob played on and off for 6 months, like that. still do when the fancy takes me. but its a $1 game and i got smaller fish to fry

I noticed that error in the article too. The first expert they interviewed was wrong, the second one was correct. The odds are NOT in the trillions to one UNLESS the Event is, The odds of drawing [N1, N2, N3, N4, N5, N6] TOMORROW AND THE NEXT DAY! If the question is what are the odds of drawing TOMORROW, the set that was ALREADY DRAWN TODAY, the answer is as you stated above. (I assume you meant 2.65 - their White Balls are based on a 6/37 matrix.)

In Texas we had 5 out of 6 on the very next draw

09/18/2002 4 - 6 - 10 - 19 - 35 - 47

353 winners got five for $344.00 and one winner in Taft Texas for 7 Million

When you get 5 numbers you will get around $1,500 or more.

This statement in the above article: The lottery's official website cited a statistician explaining, this is a rare coincidence of identical results in two different lotteries. is misleading, because it happened in the same lottery ... not in two different ones .
