I believe I have proven my point. Religious people are squarely focused on the money in one's pocket, wallet, purse, bank account. I always believe that I can make more money than what I currently have in my possession (faith). So I think I am the mature one if I should have the faith to spend my last dollars or even charge it on a credit card to believe that I will be blessed with the ability to earn more money to pay all of my obligations. That article doesn't really say he spends all his money playing the lottery every day. A random commenter did but didn't bring any evidence of this. Plus with only $6 left why not spend it on the lottery if there's nothing else it can go to?

Also he plans on spending most of it paying off debt, the part for the cruise isn't really a large portion considering cruises can be had for $400 per person for a week, or upwards of $1,200 a person (so a max of $4,000 for a week-long cruise).... [ More ]

I see the point you've made. I would agree except that he has KIDS. Kids come first and that money could be used on a meal or gas. Thats just my way of thinking about it. Aren't you glad we have different ways of looking at things cause if we didn't that guy will still have six dollars in his bank instead of thousands.

Yet, if you were a believer , you wouldn't be able to use your credit card; since you knew that you wouldn't have any money left to pay the minimum payment soon due. Appears that you missed the SEVERAL places in the bible's huge amount of stories [old and new testament] that discuss God's displeasure and condemnation with thieves? Perhaps you aren't a complete, mature believer.

I am certain religious folks are rolling their eyes reading this story...many religious folks believe it is a sin to play the lottery. I always ask such people to show me where in the Bible it says playing the lottery is a sin. None so far have been able to answer that question, but they always allude to some scriptures that says God is the source...for healing....provision...etc. I agree with that but that still does not say playing the lottery is a sin.

I Do believe God answers prayers and in ways that most wouldn't look for! I'm glad it worked out for Mr. Davis and that God smiled upon him. I hope he uses it wisely. I have to say that if I had only six dollars to my name, I probably wouldn't be playing the lottery

A couple of points I'd like to make.

1) God doesn't care who wins the lottery. Sorry, it's true. It's all luck, no heavenly intervention.

The guy is broke in part because he plays the lottery EVERY day. Also, instead of saving some money, he plans to blow a large portion of it on a cruise.

I am glad that God decided to help this fella out a bit. The story did not mention whether or not that was his primary residence, or a rental home. If he rents it out, he should give me and (and of course other LP members) a good deal! It is pretty and laid back there, and certainly one of my favorite islands in SC. There are a number of dwellings for rent there, and I have been twice, I do believe, maybe three times. My cousin got married there, and we had like 20 of us from different families

A Pawleys Island, South Carolina, man told lottery officials winning $200,000 this week saved his home from being in foreclosure, according to a news release from the S.C. Education Lottery.

John Davis won the money playing Palmetto Cash 5 and said he was $2 away from foreclosure and faced a hearing this week, according to the release.

Financially, it has been a tough year for me, he said. It has been a huge financial struggle for me, and this win will get me back on my feet.
