When I first read the title, I thought that she was going to use her winnings either to 1) brag to the bullies about her winnings or 2) locate the bullies, travel to them, and then beat them up. I am glad that she has much nobler intentions in mind.

I meant the old fashioned kind of bullying. The kind where kids assemble somewhere and lay it on the weakling. No kicks no punches, no social networks where mean words can last forever.

A good beating is what builds character and teaches respect.

Some of todays kids have no manners whatsoever and some parents are no better, they side with their kids wrong doings and bad behavior.

Train up a child in the way that he/she should grow and they will never depart from it.

Thank you, Sully for the kind words. I mean it. I don't think a lot of people realize that bullying is just a horrible form of abuse and doesn't make kids stronger. It tends to screw them up mentally. I am glad that you are teaching your son right. I think he is going to grow up and be a good kid.

And really, I think a lot of reason why children are so abusive and horrible to one another is because some parents and teachers stand by and don't stop the kids from hurting each other. I know beca... [ More ]

Scarychick, I am so sorry that is something you had to go through and live with everyday, My son tells me stories of kids who get bullied, mostly girls by girls,this is a wake up call long overdue, Parents ...pay attention to your kids, PERIOD !

SADLY, Many parents like having kids who are bada$$es, I went to one of the toughest Detroit High Schools going and many parents encouraged fighting, for the stupidest things, who was dissed, who was disrespected who was giving looks

Completely agree. I wopped my two many times with my wooden spoon. Once my son told me I couldn't do that and he was going to call the cops. I handed him the phone and said dial 911. But don't bother packing a bag or any of your toys because they will not only throw me in jail, but put him in a foster home with strangers with nothing but the clothes on his back. And after that he'd be lucky to see any of us or his friends ever again. He hung up the phone and went to his room. (lol)

Kids can be vicious to each other.

And now that the touchy-feely libs will have you thrown in jail for spanking your child, kids are more vicious than ever.

Kids need their asses beat by their parents at a certain age to make them understand the norms of acceptable behavior in society.

But the libs teach the kids to call the cops if a parent spanks them.

And therein lies the problem.

I hope this nice lady's efforts have some effect on bullying but I doubt they will.

Did you have the internet when you were a child? When you were a kid, did you come home from school, go on your FB page or whatever and read alot of nasty comments from your schoolmates in addition to the physical bullying you experienced while at school? And if a kid commits suicide after enduring that kind of physical/cyberbullying, do you still think its okay because bullying builds character and toughens weaklings or do you just consider that nature's way of weeding out the weak from the str... I disagree with you. Bullying leads to people taking or trying to take their lives in quiet a few cases. Honestly I don't really want to say it, but I was one of those people. And as someone who was bullied horribably in school, it didn't give me character. It made my life a living hell and caused me extreme anguish that effects me to this day.

I dont know what childhood could be like without bullying. I mean, bullying builds character and toughens weaklings. I was bullied and I did some bullying myself. This helicopter parenting, where parents just cannot stop hovering around in every moment of their kids lives, is getting bizzare by the day. I believe that kids of the same age should be let to sort out their differences.

I realize that some people prefer looks over substance but what a silly thing to say in response to this news story. If you actually read the article you would know that Mrs. Watson's 2.3m lottery win did not just happened - it was six years ago. Obviously losing 200 pounds wasn't a priority then and I doubt it's a priority now

I applaud her for taking a negative experience from her childhood and using her lottery winnings to turn it into something positive - not just for herself but for all the kids out there who are dealing with bullies. CBS aired a special on bullycide last week and the stories of kids who committed suicide were just heartbreaking.
