Think about it - doing something charitable through a private charity is better than the Federal Government spending it on war, welfare and regulation.<br /><br />At least I will. These are limited by a two percent of adjusted gross income floor. So a one million dollar charitable gift on their prize amount would not begin to approach a level that was even deductible.<br /><br />I also feel that you did not read the article very carefully. 			<description><![CDATA[<p>$1 million to three organizations that support veterans is not enough money.$3 millions would have been better.If I win a sum like they did I would donate more than a $1 million. I wonder if they did it as a tax deduction strategy, if it was then it was not a real donation to veterans.when I win I will donate to veterans but not as a tax deduction.</p>]]></description>
