I think the only stupid ones are the ones who failed to see that the argument was not about remaining anonymous but allowing ALL states the same freedom of choice. But keeping the winners secret only hurts the lottery as there is no proof anyone won, and we wonder if any real people actually won those huge jackpots. To educate people. I only think the large jackpots could be a scam, and only certain states hiding winners does not help their case. I have won plenty of the smaller games, but I see a lot of predictable patterns with jackpot games, and have predicted them many times. Definitely seem set up or phony. Until I win or see someone who actually wins I will remain skeptical.

I'm happy for these Maryland folks and glad their names weren't released, but I actually think they gave too much away, unless for some reason they had to by state lotto rules (hard to believe that).

If you're going to be anonymous, be ANONYMOUS. That means no quotes to the media, even through a lotto spokesman, and especially no divulging of information about your current workplace. The last one's a real head-scratcher.

Some people are stupid enough to stay in the same house or move just a few blocks away and then start spending 10 times as much as they used to. You need to grasp the fact that not everybody would be tooling around their town in a new Mercedes or buying a million dollar house in that town. And those who do feel so inclined and want to remain anonymous would be smart enough to move out of town.

Plus, there's a significant difference between some people in your town knowing you're a big jackpot winner and your name being plastered all over the national media in newspapers, on television, and on internet sites...like this one.

To realistically believe that you are going to remain anonymous after winning the biggest lottery jackpot in history is a pipe dream at best. Strange how an almost $700 million jackpot is reduced to $35 million with multiple winners. Makes it a lot harder to track down all the alleged anonymous winners, which is exactly what the lottery wants. They look like idiots hiding behind that check. Probably lottery officials that is why. According to the article, they actually made 3 copies of the winning ticket prior to signing those photocopies and not the original ticket. They signed the original ticket once they arrived at Lottery headquarters.

The smallest prize is $2, I think he just misspoke. Given the daftness of some of the questions the press asked him, it was easy enough to do. They bought 60 dollars worth of tickets at three different locations and won. If I bought that many tickets at that many locations I would still lose. Wilson reminds me of that lady who did the same thing years ago. Well I think they had to disclose some general information about them or their money would have been tied up in a lawsuit with the McDonald workers. This was an unusual situation due to our friend with the pink swine hat so some creative modifications had to be made. Yea, just like if you claim via a trust... people will know. It's just that the entire country plus others that pick the story up won't know, well unless they really care about finding out the winner. I know if I win it will be claimed through a trust and I'm sure people will find out but I'll be fine with only a decently sized amount of people knowing.

No, dk1421, these ticket owners NEVER signed the back of the ticket before submitting to the Maryland Lottery Headquarters (so that they could create and then claim in the name of either the trust or corporation that is written on the check in the picture)!
