Why are they holding waiting to see how it goes on the internet? To me, it's idiotic not to. I don't understand what is holding them back. What am I not understanding about this

They should address the ethical failing of those states that pre-draw until they find numbers that will pull the least $ in prizes, then declare THAT draw the official draw! Either close it to bets like NY or go with pot sharing like NJ

No, that's something they would probably never allow. Of course, anything is possible, but everything I heard was that players from within a state could play games inside that state, and that protections would be put in place to be sure that was the case.

I bought my initial lottery product during the early 1960s While visiting my wife's Canadian home place.

For $20 Canadian, I purchased a small package containing 3 games - scratch off, match ticket number and

combination for a Pick 6/49 lottery game.

The prizes were, to me at the time, astronomical.

An exact ticket number match paid $1 million. There were numerous lower level prizes, $500,000,

for matching fewer numbers.

The state lotteries are most certainly looking at the experiences and lessons learned from other countries. In fact, an exec from Camelot was at the conference and fairly vocal during Q A sessions. Other countries' experiences were mentioned several times during the presentations.

I think your comment about other countries having no problem being online is not true, and not really applicable to the USA, which has completely different political and legal issues from other countries.

Other countries have no problem I know of online, why don't the lottery directors look at Au. UK. etc.

The states should stay out of gaming, we don't need gambling games with a 50% return.

Having experienced the Florida lottery online Monopoly game, all the bells and whistles don't make a game fun when no skill is involved when each choice has a predetermined result, same thing killed the Florida lottery game tv show, wasn't fun watching players go through their meaningless motions.... That sounds reasonable. For those who lose a lot of money, there should be a separate lottery that guarantees that any number

you play will automatically be a jackpot winner of at least $5,000,000. This would go a long ways toward soothing those big money losing blues.

I think that the lottery should have a once ayear free drawing for the people who lost a lot of money like me. or do the two days lottery, like sometiime ago. When your number have two days to hit, like 123 on the 28,29. or when people play there lottery there should be a plys under the number you are playing which you can make a pick three or pick four, for ex;238 added 01. with that 01 i will play 019, and 0101, or it could just be a leading number,my number 238,add number 1, i will play 111 a... You're still thinking about this in terms of a big jackpot game. When you start to think of it as some kind of jazzed-up scratch game, you're more in the zone. And when there are multiple ways to play the game beyond a simple scratch, you're getting warmer.

Lots of people drop $5 (or more) on a scratch ticket all the time. When you think of a national premium game like this, it starts to make sense.

Most importantly: certainly start to weigh the pros and cons, but take everything thus far... [ More ]

Unless the jackpots are starting at 100m and rolling over by a minimum of 25m and even then I won't jump on the bandwagon until it climbs to 1billion

Most will never win with $1....most will never win with $2.I can't imagine anything that could justify that price.

For$5 that ticket had better tell jokes or take me out to dinner lol

Although I think the anonymity issue is one not everyone agrees with but I have seen the actions of hate and jealousy, stalking just the beginning and the least of it. Not lottery related, the end result is the same.

There was a great write up in the WS journal about this event. It mentioned things like the wire act ending and allowing states to go online. NY says its ready to go online, but wants to do further testing.

Also, I had some good, in-depth conversations with several of the lottery vendors attending the conference. Many were excited by the prospect of potentially being able to reach out directly to lottery players through Lottery Post, so again, this is ultimately great news for lottery players.

I think that would be awesome! I've seen this used successfully in other Third Party Forums before as a means of improving communication between Companies and their Fan/Consumer base.

Thanks for this interesting article, Todd. I hope that they would at least let you e-mail them a list of questions and then e-mail you back the answers; giving you the opportunity to ask deeper if they misunderstood or didn't fully answer a particular question.

With yesterday evening's Powerball win, I noticed that all 5 of their winning jackpot tickets this year have been sold from the East Coast. Despair for we Midwestern state buyers

national premium game remains a mystery as to how it works

, but at lest we got more clues...

maybe their thinking like play it again options that instant games have?

like maybe enter a code online, for raffle style draw of X prize

or i seen instant play it again games like monopoly in tn also, , a online interactive 2nd chance give away,

aka roll the dice and see where u landed on the game for a prize on. aka random chance at many diff prizes.

No, I didn't hear it mentioned once.

You have to understand, most of what is discussed when lottery personnel get together is related to marketing, ads, and sales. Frankly, those are the biggest topics of discussion when executives from any industry get together, so there is no surprise.

What I tried to do with this writeup is to pull out the parts that I thought crossed over into topics of interest to lottery players, or that would somehow impact lottery players. There were lots of other... [ More ]
