How would that make you feel to be pictured holding a check for $1 million, but only see $200K to $250K deposited into your bank account?

There's always a lot of people who want the rich to pay confiscatory tax rates.

But I'm guessing they change their minds when they become one of the rich.

This time is needed to check government databases to determine if the winner owes back taxes, child support, liens, alimony, etc. It is better to get that sorted out, and it can only commence once the winner comes forward and provides personal identification information. It amuses me when I read about winners getting charged for tax evasion by having others claim tickets. So instead of paying 25 to 40 percent of winnings in taxes, they end up paying 60 to 70 percent in taxes, penalties and fines... [ More ]

I'd NEVER wish that any schools or school administrators got it to squander, and continue their past 100 year practice/tradition of being mainly hurtful and unhelpful to children legally forced to attend.

I embrace the notion that it's this jackpot winner's to squander however she likes. Hopefully, fully within the U.S.A.; since our employment economy has remained in DEEP do do this past thirteen years (housing this past five years).

My question...a hypothetical...what if the numbers had faded in the sun and were unreadable or partially unreadable and only the long id type # was visible. Would this be valid? Granted she was on the video but she still needed the ticket.

A California woman who didn't know she had a jackpot-winning $23 million lottery ticket in her car has come forward to claim her fortune.

The Palmdale woman's daughter recognized her from a newspaper photo of the supposed winner, captured on the liquor store's surveillance camera.

More details about the woman's identity were to be announced Friday, lottery officials said.
