Yep. The consumer will never notice that the pay-outs have drastically decreased due to the restructuring. The real winner is the lottery itself. I am not saying to stop playing because there is the chance for the big win, but the smaller prizes have constraints on them now. It is interesting that when the PB doubled in price sales drastically dropped, however because of the doubling of price revenue actually increased. It would great to be one of the lucky few who knows what it feels like to win millions. I don't think the raising it to 2 dollars was worth. Most of the same states that always won in past are still winning most of the jackpots after the price increase.

Got my tickets from a liquor store (didn't buy booze though) in the small town I just moved to. They sold a winning state lottery ticket a few years ago. The clerk was kind of creepy though. Jackpot winner(s) will receive their prize in annual installments over a 29-year period unless, within 60 days from the date they claim their prize, they request the Cash Option

So what if it was changed from 29 year period to 100 year period. Would the jackpot be over $600 million?

The only thing that really matters is the cash option in my opinion.
