This bonus is really a great help to their employees they can do a lot of things with the money. I'm sure the employees are more motivated to meet their quota. I think giving bonus is a great reward to show employees that their employers appreciate their good performances.

The maximum bonus an employee can receive is $1,500 per quarter, or $6,000 per year.

This is much ado about nothing. Since bonuses can't be expected to move in lock-step with current performance, the chart isn't very helpful. $300K over 75 employees? Give me a break.

A more interesting News thread would have been a follow up on the Wall Street crooks who brought the economy down in 2007-8 and received bonuses in the tens of $Millions

They are getting bonuses because they did an inadequate job in three of the last seven years. Tell the employees if the do a poor job this year then can triple their bonuses next year. Brilliant idea.

Performance pay is rare in government jobs.

But the Michigan Lottery Bureau has paid 75 employees more than $300,000 in incentive pay in the past year. And, according to the state's Civil Service Commission, the group is alone among about 50,000 state employees in being eligible for performance bonuses.
