I agree. $500 for a second prize is not good at all. New York lottery should stop the Sweet Million game. It has not been a successful game.

I know the game pales in comparison to Powerball and Mega Millions jackpot wise. My thoughts are it's still more money than I would of had prior to winning. I know some people scoff at winning 2 million, but I view it as I could accomplish enough to make things better for my family, and myself winning. Yes since moving back to NY I play all the NY games. Well all except win 3, win 4 or the Scratch offs.

That is a GOOD point, I can't even FIND the last SM jackpot winner. But when you hit Lotto you win MORE than just 1 million. Right now it would take 8 SM hits to WIN the same amount in SM.

Agreed. If they want to pump up Lotto sales, they should lop 10 balls off the matrix and advertise Lotto as an easier-to-win alternative to Powerball and Mega Millions.

And Sweet Million's player base is even smaller than Lotto's, if the fact that barely anyone ever wins the million is any indication.

If there's a silver lining to Lotto's low sales figures, it's that the first and second prizes tend to build up quite a bit before anyone wins. Wednesday's jackpot is $8.9 million, and the second prize (if won) should come in at around $600K.

The CB sandwiches are pretty good but they don't compare to Patels 40 day slow rolled hotdogs. Some of the top Chefs in the world can't mimic the flavor.

Ny and NJ need to fix their current pick 6 lottery. Both have small jackpots that take forever to grow into anything worth playing for. Look at the California Super Lotto, it doesn't pay as much as Power Ball or Mega but it does have some decent size jackpots that are attractive when you see them.

They make it seem like the game is a failure, but when there's only 3 winners a year, it's really a financial winner for them. I play the CT games because the payouts for NY games are pathetic.

I think the OP title, NY's Lotto no match for Powerball, Mega Millions, holds true for many states.

Illinlois Lotto starts at $2M and rolls over $250,000 when no one wins it.

The Missouri Lotto jackpot is usually in the $1M to $4M range.

The estimated $44 million in Lotto receipts projected for this fiscal year compares to $166 million for Powerball in New York and $124 million for Mega Millions. New York also projects $632 million from instant games and $937 million from video lottery terminals at the state's nine so-called racinos.

NY Lotto: Horrible odds when compared to the many other games that NY and nearby states offers. When I happen to be in NYC I only ever spend $1 on this game. Even at $1 for 2 lines this game has terrible odds.

Lotto is still losing its mojo.

New York's venerable twice-weekly Lotto drawing continues its long-term decline in an age of multi-state mega jackpots.
