What he should of done is asked Mr.Patel if it was a 20k winner. Mr.Patel would of lied and said it was only $100. Then dum dum could of bought more tickets with the $100 because Patel won't call the cops.

Well, ThatScaryChick, he only went to two locations (store then lottery headquarters) to claim the ticket. The clerks the article references in the first paragraph were both, or all, at the SAME store. So, if a paranoid person, he might have felt that those clerks/friends were trying to make him lose out on legitimate monies due him ... simply to be spiteful to him. We don't know from this article.

Although I do wonder why he didn't go to a second local vendor BEFORE being in such a huff/rag... [ More ]

I'd hate to be in prison, although I've read those minimum security Federal facilities aren't too bad, all things considered...a chance to further your education, nobody convicted of violent crimes jailed with you and more privileges. They don't have fences, but the guys don't try to escape because if they do and are caught, they're sent to a maximum security prison...where the other inmates (and guards/correctional officers) aren't nearly as nice . Police say first he went to the Loves in Tahlequah to try to cash in his altered ticket. And when they refused, he drove all the way to the Lottery commission office in Oklahoma City, three hours away, to try to get the teller to cash it there.

This makes no sense if Shaske altered the ticket because that means he went to jail arguing the authenticity of something he knew was a fake. It makes more sense that he did find the ticket on the ground at a Wal-Mart and was upset when he found out it... [ More ]

He's not very bright and he deserves to go to jail. He got lucky the first few times when he got told no by the store clerks that they weren't going to cash his fake ticket. He should have took that as his warning that his plan wasn't going to work.

We don't know if he really found an altered lottery ticket at a Walmart. He may simply be a single-minded type of guy who thought the first clerk was trying to lie to him. If this, then, why he didn't simply go to a second local lottery ticket vendor to get a second opinion/claim ticket I don't know.

However, if he knew that the ticket wasn't a winner, and then proceeded to go to the Lottery Headquarters to obtain and complete the claim form among the highest trained lottery ticket readers,... [ More ]

Holy hell, what a moron. Not only did he try to forge a ticket (moronic action #1), he wouldn't let it go after being turned down the first time (#2), he then drives THREE HOURS (#3 and how much $$ in gas is that?) to cash the ticket at headquarters which would of course be more knowledgeable about forgeries than the store clerk he tried to scam initially (#4), then made a fuss (#5).

Maybe the mob was after him and he thought it was best to commit a crime and go to jail than to be out in the... [ More ]

Oklahoma City police arrested a man last week trying to cash in a forged lottery ticket.

According to the police report filed Friday June 19, 45-year-old Michael Allen Shaske of Tahlequah was hoping for a $20,000 payout by turning in an altered $3 scratch-off ticket and would not take 'no' for an answer from any of the clerks he went to that day.

But all he got was a quick trip to jail.
