We can also play online in Sweden so this friend buying thing is not a big deal. I believe the biggest problem is elderly people not beeing able to come to the store, but they can sign a form allowing tickets to be bought in their name by a friend/relative. Some games like Viking Lotto, can't be played online. Even in US if you win big, the autorities will eventully know who you are, if you havent lost your ticket that is. So it's not a big deal to not beeing able to play anonymously.

On the plus side everyone who actually wins will get their money and expired tickets will be a thing of the past. On the negative side, you can never ask for someone to buy a ticket for you ever again. The lottery will identify the purchaser of the ticket as the winner, unless you have a signed contract with every 'friend' you go halveses with, people are going to get screwed.

Authorites say that they will look into how tourists and swedes living in other countires shoulw be able to play. This new rules have already been questioned. I have enyoyed great soccergames this championship so Im not that sorry that swden are not in the cup.

At the moment tourists or swedes not having their permanent resident in sweden can't play in Sweden.

In the gambling industry, where losing is the norm, Sweden is cheating itself from a huge revenue. Lottery is the hope business.

Anyways it's a shame that someone who obviously needed $12M is not going to get $12M

I was so hoping that Sweden would have qualified for the World Cup, its a pity some great players are missing- it's always a treat watching Ibahimovic play.

*At the very least- the schools will get the $12 mil. Absolutely outstanding behavior on the lottery's part for keeping their doors open an extra hour, albeit in vain.

I live in sweden, as from june this year every time we buy a lottery ticket in store or make another bet ( scratcerhs excluded) we need to show a mandatory game card to register a bet, one of the reasons are to avoid situations like this. At the moment tourists or swedes not having their permanent resident in sweden can't play in Sweden. I know that people even in Sweden are upset over this new control over the player, but im for sure won't have any trouble with this if it makes me not lose an 5... [ More ]

I just noticed I had written jacked instead of jacket in my previous post. I'm really careful to proofread what I write now, so I don't know why that slipped past me. Ever played the numbers on a fortune cookie slip? I love Chinese food and used to eat it often until I had to slack off the carbs. I've played the numbers and never had a bit of luck. One of the largest suppliers of fortune cookies has a plant here in Texas; not sure how their sales are going now since an unfortunate accident.

I had all 6 winning numbers on 2 lines last night. 4 on the first line, 2 on the next. And the 2 numbers wrong on the first line were 1 off.

I pulled the numbers off LP's RNG.

Well, there's the next draw on Saturday.

I have one of those, too. I store my pick slips and lottery budget in those. My tickets are kept in a red envelope with a few good luck charms and a fortune cookie fortune that reads May you grow rich .

I'm always misplacing things and have been trying to become more organized. I used to date a woman who was a Zig Zigglar devotee and she told me a cluttered house makes for a cluttered life and mind. Mine too. I had written a too-lengthy reply telling about some of the tickets I had lost - blown away when I opened the vehicle door, covered up by stuff on my desk, fell out of my coat pocket, etc. but decided I was blathering on. (as I'm sometimes prone to do) Now I put them in one of those freebie blue Texas Lotto wallets they sometimes hand out at lottery retailers.

How could someone just let a multi million dollar winning ticket go unclaimed?! If people are not going to check their tickets, then why are they playing in the first place? What a colossal waste!! I can't think of a logical excuse to how this could happen other then the winner either losing the ticket or having a heart attack before telling anyone he or she won.

Somebody lost millions of dollars Monday evening that they probably never knew was theirs.

Six months after beating astronomical odds to win the Lotto Texas jackpot, the simultaneously lucky and cursed person failed to materialize before a deadline to redeem the winning ticket officially worth $12 million, and $7.5 million in immediate cash.

It was biggest unclaimed Lotto prize since 2001 and the third largest since the game started in 1992, according to the Texas Lottery Commission.
