Most stories I've read about winners who won a lot then stayed on the job said the winners had problems with co-workers. Many of their co-workers figured they should resign and let someone who needed the job take it. I imagine in most regular work places, with regular workers (not professionals, or people unique jobs) that co workers feel that way. If I won a lot, it would be a requirement that I quit my job. I work as a cashier and it's a small town lol

I would move to my hometown which is in a different state.

I won't be one of them 90% margins who go bankrupt within 5 years.

Size of the payout, taxes and future tax requirements, essential cost that will be required to sustain a certain level of desired lifestyle would all factor in the decision.

Believe me, blowing through a large sum of money is not hard. You can dream and plan all you want to, but there has to be a level of financial steadfastness and keeping outside influences away to maintain that lifestyle that would not require you to continue to..WORK FOR THE MAN!!

Yes, I would quit asap... in the past similar thread I said I would give 2 weeks notice, now I wouldn't. I would walk into work and say I quit in a bullhorn. Matching 5 white numbers (MM/PB with megaplier or powerplay) would be 2 million minimum. Once I'm 100% self employed again, I would buy more single family rental houses having 10 total and manage those full time. Of course, I would travel, pay off bills and invest for the future.

Lots of factors, mainly, as others have noted, size of JP and winners' age.

Other than those who absolutely detest their employer, betting most stay on through a short period, maybe to see a project through or otherwise not leave co-workers in a lurch during vacations, etc. They'll understand better than you you'll likely be moving on soon enough.

As HaveABall mentioned, the JP size wasn't mentioned. If you won the first drawing after the Texas Lottery rolled over, you'd take home a bit less than 2 million. There would be a lot of other variables to factor in; if you were making $50k/yr and took home a JP of a million, that's 20 yrs. of the same income you have now (not counting investment income), not even counting what you'd want to spend out of the initial amt. On the other hand, I have lots of things that would keep me busy trying to do them. And if we won enough, hubby has ideas of a shop he wants to open, and a couple of friends who would be able to help with it.

Sully16, I am sorry to hear that! This is a painful experience on several levels to a person. Yet another evidence of overpopulation, inflation increasing, theft increasing, and wistful employers/companies not receiving the community/nation support they require to keep and ADD to their full-time employees each year!
