That's what I was thinking and now there will be taxes to pay on it too. Shouldn't the number that was drawn be

paid out..forget the certified crap, use what thousands of people saw being done with their own eyes.

If the 367 was the number drawn why do players have to mail it in? Why can't the retailers pay out for both numbers?

IMO if the 367 was drawn, then that is the winning number regardless of what the auditor said. How do you certify the wrong number? The auditor screwed up plain and simple by certifying the wrong number. Why should the players be penalized by having to mail it in and wait for their winnings

I am impressed that they are willing to honor both sets of numbers. As others have said, not every state would do that. So huzzah! for South Carolina

Glad to see the S.C. Lottery admitting their error and paying out the winners. I can say with almost near certainty that other state lotteries--cough, California--wouldn't honor either ticket and declare the drawing null and void.

Okay..so the 364 was certified but the 367 drawn? Maybe someone from SC can step up and explain that?

Were 2 numbers drawn? What type of night drawings do you have? So you have to send the ticket in then

be taxed on the winnings for a certification error when 367, not 364, was actually drawn from the machine?

Would they have paid out if a popular combination had been drawn (the kind that bring liabilities in the millions)? That is the real question.

There is some states that wouldn't pay out. They would just say mistakes happen too bad, so it's good to see that South Carolina is paying out money for their mistake number.

The South Carolina Lottery says it will honor two sets of Evening Pick 3 numbers for Tuesday night's drawing.

One set of numbers (3-6-4) was certified by an independent auditor, while another set (3-6-7) was drawn during the evening Pick 3 drawing.

Players holding Pick 3 tickets bearing the numbers 3-6-7 for the Tuesday, October 7 evening draw must take or mail their tickets to the Columbia Claims Center for processing and prize payment. Sign the ticket back and complete the required infor... [ More ]
