They use the debit card to verify your age. Already checked with financial institution and it is correct. Simply a lottery system failure.

Went to the one gas station in town that does this at the pump. Wanted to experience the process 1 time. Ok, the process seemed simple. Insert debit card, choose debit. The pump then asks if you want lottery tickets. You can choose between pb, mm, carolina pick 5. These are only qp for 1 draw! You must purchase in batches of 5, p10, or 20. You gotta give them credit for trying to 'think out side of the box'. I think this is aimed to help capture the 'occasional' player who plays on impluse. I like the idea.

Congratulation to the NC. lottery player's for being able to play their main games at the pump. It don't sound to great , specifically this feature, I'm Quoting it Limits placed on purchases. A customer can spend no more than $70 per debit card per week. Let think about this, all the game involve can be purchase for multiple draws including your quick picks. LOL we dont have that problem here in NC...there is a gas station about every two feet here..We got at least 2 at almost every intersection. The only problem we have is when we fill up they usually drop the price by a penny or 2 after we've finished pumping LOL

not enough (probably hardly any) people are going into the actual store to pay for the gas anymore. surprised they are not trying to move the candy, cigs, sodas, coffee, etc. outside too since no one comes in to overpay for these items. just put a canopy over a bunch of vending and lottery machines and close the store. only used for bathroom anyway. can even put one of those outside.

Wow, like some people aren't already on the edge of killing someone while waiting

for their turn at the pump. Now there's the extra added feature of someone not sure

how much they want to play and if they want it supersized.

North Carolina residents can now play jackpot lottery games while pumping their gas.

A new service being offered by the N.C. Education Lottery allows players to enter in the drawing in one of the jackpot games Powerball, Mega Million, or Carolina Cash 5 all from the convenience of their gas pump.

To use this service, customers will swipe a debit card at the pump to get Quick Pick numbers for the next drawing in their jackpot game of choice. A receipt will then print their numbers.
