In 1999 the last bill had other things attached to it that were not wanted by the majority. The people want a straight lottery bill to vote on. Then and only then will it pass.

I would have loved to see that carvan of cars. Just like these idiots in KY; the horsing industry has been begging for slot machines @ the tracks--no dice. If you drive over to Southern Indiana casino (Horseshoe) there are an unbelievable amount of KY tagged cars there all the time.

Here is a great example of Alabama, watching revenue cross the line. From the beginning they don't want Alabama voters to vote on this. I'm not going to wait around to see if they get it right this time. Today I'm taking that 2 hour drive to Georgia to get Powerball tickets. We already have a car load. With 10 other cars following us.

...and the Bible thumpers quickly departed Church. Onto the casinos, bars, dog tracks what have you. They suddenly find religion when it comes time to vote on the lottery, pushing their 'beliefs' statewide.

Politicians.- you gotta love them. They salivating at all the money they see exodus their State and come up with this brilliant idea I guess we better get on the bandwagon They may have a fight on their hands from the religious right warning them of Fire brimstone should they go through with it.

That being said I do remember the controversy when ga first got its lottery back in the early 90s lol. It was right after I moved here from the north. I remember being amused by the controversy even as a kid...

Heard that someone in US Treasury Dept proposed a policy for I..RS. that would require social security numbers from church members if donations were over $250.00 per year. Would love to know who proposed this policy so they can be removed from public service. Congress killed that idea.

Some of these politicians are just as dumb as rock. They finally woke up now that the jackpot is so high, after throwing their money away, all these years by letting their residents travel to surrounding states to purchase lottery tickets instead of joining MUSL or having their own lottery.

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $700 million and many Alabamians are crossing the state line for a chance to win the prize.

Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin lslands, but it is not allowed in Alabama.

As people cross the state line to buy tickets, some Alabama lawmakers are working on legislation to change that.
