NC has won recently. Those states have the largest population CA, TX, NY, and FL have the most people. But NC has won and won part of the 6th biggest jackpot ever. Also TN has a much lower population and beat the odds TWICE now under the new matrix. One time that I remember but still won once lol.

How do the tax rates on that page figure into the total tax.

The members each need to fill out the correct form provided by the lottery office. The lottery will then hold

out the correct taxes and write each one a check or make a direct deposit into their bank. I am sure they

can go online and download the form.

income tax rate of 39.6% it adds up to 50.4%.

The rates you quote are the minimum, the more money you get after a certain level the higher the taxes.

You seem to have an expertise about our tax code, So I keep this short if you doubt my line of thinking, why not just use a limited liability company (LLC) as a pass-through entity and collect as the trust on the other side? TN does allow an LLC to collect. (I call checkmate.

I had purchased a $5 QP ticket. I had the mega # on 1st line, one of the 5 #'s on the second and the other 4/5 numbers on the fourth line.

Good point. And crazy thing is the owner didn't even have to buy a ticket - simply sell the winner. Plus the owner, as with other lottery retailers, receives commission for selling tickets. A win, win for them. While California match-5 players got short-changed again. I'm amazed the CA para-mutuel law hasn't been changed yet, though I've read there being much discussion of the issue over the years.

Good, this nonsense is all over and things can return to normal. I really think the last few large jackpots have really desensitized people. Even though this was $1.5 billion, the reaction today from people seems to be pretty muted. the cash value is about $990 million. Divide that by the three of them, and then subtract the federal tax. Those 3 states don't; have any state tax.

A few years back I read a small book on lottery winnings and it identified, at that point in time, that 71% of the big winnings were quick pick. CNBC had a story a few days back and commented that today it's around 90%. I've been getting quick pick most of the time I buy tickets.

It's good that you can maintain a humor about the situation. Otherwise, I'm in the same boat as you. I didn't win diddly. But, I have yet to check the no-tax state I play in, for the 2nd prize. I've not even looked at the numbers I played with slip or randomly. See, I played a few tickets in this lame state,An as well as the no-tax state.

I just know I'm not winner of prize 1. I'm bummed out, BIG TIME.

That number varies from state to state. CA allows 100 people. I was on their website a few days ago and read about it.
