Yes, wasn't rigged a flaw was exploited! Semantics I know unless it was on purpose. Looks like there was a slight time delay in which they could view the winners and purchase them. The deeper quandary is why it took months to correct.

5 Card Cash, a combination instant-win/evening-draw game

Seems like it was the instant win part that was being shown by the computer system on that view, not the future drawing (unless they had a time machine). I guess the appeal of the game was you could win now and/or win later too.

If the game has a drawing, how would anyone including the lottery know whether those tickets were winners or not? I don't understand, how are they able to do this if tickets purchased after the drawing aren't valid

Nobody rigged the lottery. Nobody created any phony tickets, nobody manipulated the results, and nobody made any lottery equipment do anything it wasn't programmed to do. All that happened was some people canceled tickets because the lottery was stupid enough to tell them the tickets were losers before completing the sale.

really? people are getting busted for rigging the lottery. i remember when it was crazy to say the lottery is rigged.
