I don't think so either but I just have a weird feeling when I read the article that it'll be used as a compromise to push the bill through.

Have any other states unsuccessfully tried to follow Cali's lead

If i get the job i want, i might have to move to Alabama in a year so hopefully it passes.

I wonder if they'll follow Cali's lead and use pari-mutual. I have no idea whether they are actually considering it, but i just have a feeling it'll be put in there as some sort of compromise.

Slot machines are not lottery games. They belong in Casinos.

I'm guessing this will be a fight with the lottery alone, but to throw lottery type slot machines into the mix is asking for disaster.

Alabama Sen. Jim McClendon, R-Springville, laid out a competing proposal Tuesday to Gov. Robert Bentley's plan to institute a statewide lottery as a means to addressing Alabama's budget shortfall. McClendon is still working on the details of the bill so he did not have a copy available.
