This makes no sense. Why is he fighting so hard to keep a contract that shouldn't have been allowed in the first place? This is a built in security measure to prevent exactly this. Why can't they simply draw up a new agreement that stays within the bounds of the law? If this company doesn't like it, so what? It's implausible that they're the only company willing to throw their hat in the ring to obtain such a lucrative contract. Ridiculous waste of state resources and court time.... [ More ]

Wonder how Gov. Scott would profit from having IGT Global Solutions run the lottery? Republicans and Conservatives are all about handing things over to private companies. Illinois is being screwed because of it and they are having a very hard time getting rid of them. Is the same thing in store for Florida if Scott gets his way

Florida Gov. Rick Scott is moving ahead in his legal battle with House Speaker Richard Corcoran over the state-run Florida Lottery.

The Scott administration on Tuesday appealed a ruling that found that lottery officials lacked the legal authority to approve a 15-year contract worth more than $700 million.

Corcoran sued the state's lottery secretary in February, arguing the contract with IGT Global Solutions to run lottery games is illegal, because it exceeds the Florida Lottery's authorize... [ More ]
